New construction Gennadi: update 7) September 6, 2026
Fantastic news today: The solar panels for the first 2 houses have been installed. When applying for building permits in Greece, a sustainability paragraph is not yet mandatory, as it is in some other countries (e.g. in the Netherlands), but it is certainly very much appreciated. And it can sometimes speed up the permit process.
Upon delivery, a truck with a crane placed the panels directly on the roofs.

There are now 23 solar panels on both roofs and 20 KW back-up batteries have also been installed. This makes each villa almost completely independent of the energy grid.
This is a huge plus for our guests because during heavy thunderstorms the power can sometimes temporarily fail. There is also every now and then a huge peak in the demand for electricity during the busiest summer months. Especially when it is very hot, the air conditioners are running at full speed everywhere. With our installed panels and batteries we no longer run the risk of power outages.

Together with the installer, we looked at the best angle of inclination without disturbing the sea view. As can be seen in the photo, it worked out fine! Thanks to the team of Rodos Energy!
It is nice to know that we, and especially our guests, are now always supplied with electricity. Of course, we don’t have a lack of sunshine on Rhodes.
